This booklet presents a set of international labour standards adopted on 16 June 2011 by the ILO' s International Labour Conference. These standards provide the basis for improving the working and living conditions of domestic workers performing work that has been historically undervalued and traditionally done by women. Convention no. 189 guarantees minimum labour protection to domestic workers while the Recommendation provides practical guidance on how to put into practice the obligations embedded in the Convention.
