"Because I am a girl" is an annual report published by Plan International assessing the situation of girls in the world. These reports are based on facts as well as testimonies in order to show why girls must be treated differently than boys and adult women. They also use data from a small-scale study conducted in 2006 among 142 young girls in nine different countries. This 2013 report focuses on teenagers in situation of emergency and seeks to understand why their rights are ignored before, during and after natural catastrophes.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
