Local strategy for the implementation of the EU Guidelines on violence against women and girls and combating all forms of discrimination against them

This strategy responds to the commitments made by the European Union (EU) and Albania in the framework of this country’ s pre-EU membership strategy. Thus, the principle of equal opportunities for men and women forms part of this Stabilisation and Association Agreement signed on 12 June 2006 and which came into force on 1 April 2009. The strategy resumes several priorities established by the EU, namely the promotion of gender equality, the protection against gender-based discrimination and the fight against domestic violence.
