This document seeks to provide a basis for collecting data and assessing the status of women and gender equality in Albania. It will enable policy-makers, researchers and other actors involved to develop proposals to improve women’s participation in decision-making and their situation in education, employment, social welfare, health, media and domestic violence. These indicators will also help to monitor the progress achieved in terms of the objectives stated in the Gender Equality Law, the Domestic Violence Law and the commitments made at an international level; for instance, in the framework of the Beijing Declaration.
