Lecture and Discussion with Kathy Davis (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands)
3 p.m. Lecture by Kathy Davis: Intersectionality has become a ‘buzzword’ in critical feminist and anti-racist theory as the best way to understand the interaction between gender, race, and other categories of difference in individual lives, social practices, institutional arrangements, and cultural ideologies and the outcomes of these interactions in terms of power. But how can we actually use intersectionality in practice? In this lecture, Davis will talk about some of the ‘in’s’ and ‘out’s’ of using intersectionality. Several strategies will be explored for using intersectionality as a helpmeet for doing critical research, equal opportunities, and policymaking.
4 p.m. Discussion moderated by Kathy Davis & Christa Binswanger: Where and how do you apply the concept of intersectionality in your projects/contexts? What possibilities and/or difficulties do you see in using intersectionality?
4.30 p.m. Information and questions concerning the Think Tank Activities 2021, Forum P-7, new Advisory Board, upcoming events 2022.
