Generation Equality Forum Digital Event - July 7, 2020, 7pm
The General Secretariat of the Generation Equality Forum is organising the digital event "Our Generation Equality" on Tuesday 7 July 2020 from 7 to 8.30 p.m., under the aegis of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Secretariat of State for Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against Discrimination, and in partnership with UN Women France and the Embassy of Mexico in France.
While the Generation Equality Forum was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 crisis, July 7, 2020, the initial opening date of the Forum in Paris, will celebrate this day which was expected to be the unifying meeting point for gender equality and women’s rights actors around the world, 25 years after the 4th UN World Conference for Women in Beijing.
If the Covid-19 crisis has had the effect of a shock wave across the planet, aggravating existing inequalities and disproportionately affecting girls and women, it has also demonstrated the capacity of institutional actors and civil society to identify and implement quick solutions to protect and guarantee women’s rights.
"Our Generation Equality" bears witness to a redoubled mobilization in favour of gender equality and women’s rights: through some thirty testimonies, the event will highlight the impact of the current situation on women, draw a portrait of those who have been active in the response to the crisis, and shed light on the initiatives deployed in France and by the Forum’s partners.
