After having visited Tarragona, and previously travelled around France, our photography exhibition "Women in action: Breaking Stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean Region" lands in Manresa, in the province of Barcelona, Spain. The exhibit, which in Catalan is entitled “Dones trencant barreres. Transformant les ciutats mediterrànies”, will be displayed at the Manresa University Campus Library from the 10th of February until the 8th of March 2020, as part of the University’s programme of events for the “Women’s Week UPC” (“Setmana de la Dona UPC”), organized by the Manresa School of Engineering (EPSEM) on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
The exhibit shows a series of 10 images, each featuring a story, that bespeak brave and inspiring women who have contributed to changing mindsets and breaking gender stereotypes in different cities and villages from Algeria, Belgium, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Palestine and Turkey.
These pictures and stories were selected as finalists of the photography contest "Powerful women: Breaking stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean region", launched in November 2017 by our Foundation together with our founding member and current headquarters the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Do not miss out on this excellent opportunity to deepen your knowledge on the creative tissue of the Euro-Mediterranean area!
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
