Our photography exhibition "Women in action: Breaking Stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean Region" (in Catalan, "Dones trencant barreres. Transformant les ciutats mediterrànies") is currently being displayed (from the 13th until the 31st of January 2020) at the Sescelades Campus of the Learning and Research Centre - CRAI (Centre de Recursos per a l’Aprenentatge i la Investigació), part of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) in Tarragona, Spain.
This exhibition is the result of a photography contest launched in November 2017 by our Foundation together with our founding member and current headquarters the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The 10 selected photographs (finalists of the competition) highlight brave and inspiring women who have contributed to changing mindsets and breaking gender stereotypes in different cities and villages from Algeria, Belgium, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Palestine and Turkey. Don’t forget to read the amazing and encouraging stories which accompany every image!
In the upcoming months, this exhibition will also travel to the cities of Manresa and Lleida - stay tuned for more information!
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
