On 4 December 2019, a Workshop on “Tourism: Generating jobs for Youth in the MENA Region” will take place at the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM)’s Headquarters in Barcelona. The event is a follow up of the UfM Secretariat’s Brainstorming Meeting on Tourism, held on 30 November 2018, to set up a regional platform for networks and experts on tourism.
As tourism has an indispensable role in the creation of jobs for youth and women in the MENA region, the workshop will mainly focus on the employment pillar and will serve as a space to share knowledge and best practices, to exchange views on regional policies and to provide the region with specific recommendations.
An entire session will be dedicated to Women in Tourism and will be discussing the challenges that women entrepreneurs face in the tourism sector; the opportunities that online platform tourist services (Uber, Airbnb etc.) could create to increase women’s contribution to national economy; and the tools, resources and trainings that women start-ups or business owners need in order to improve their efficiency, productivity, effectiveness and professionalism.
If you have a start up in the tourism sector, you create employment for youth and/or women, you provide a tourism service through a digital platform or you work on policies that promote job creation in the tourism private sector, this workshop is for you!
