Representatives of ministries in charge of gender equality and women issues, national statistic institutions, regional and international concerned organizations, civil society regional networks, business women associations, trade unions, cooperation agencies and donors from 43 Mediterranean country will meet on July 18th to discuss women’s empowerment priorities in the region.
The event which is organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) mainly aims at discussing the outcomes of the the 4th UfM Ministerial Conference on Strengthening the Role of Women in Society (Cairo, 2017) and its Ministerial Declaration.
The dialogue in which participates Mrs. Nathalie Pilhes who will be representing the Euro – Mediterranean Women’s Foundation will be represented by its board member, will also be an opportunity to take stock on existing gender data and statistics in the region and to assess the gap including capacity building needs from countries of the region.
Further, on July 19th, the UfM will present its study «The Role of Youth and Women as Preventers of Violent extremism» which it had commissioned to Barcelona Centre for International Affairs - CIDOB and which aims at providing policy-relevant research, evidence-based findings and policy recommendations in the area of Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE), with a focus on the role of youth and women as preventers.
