Between October 10 and 11, the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (FFEM) will participate at the Women4Mediterranean Conferences, organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) at the Champalimaud Foundation’s Centre for the Unknown (Lisbon, Portugal). This participation consists in organizing a photo exhibition titled "Women in action: Breaking Stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean Region". Additionally, the FFEM will be represented throughout the conferences’ sessions by different women who took part in its actions since 2014. For instance, Nora Noor, one of the final winners of the photo contest ‘’Powerful Women: Breaking Stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean Region”, launched by FFEM on November 25th 2017 on the occasion of the International Day on the Elimination of Violence against Women, will be speaking at the ‘’Meet tomorrow’s change makers – Youth for women’s empowerment” session on October 11th.
This year’s conference is centered on the topic "Women build inclusive societies", and It is expected to gather more than 300 high level stakeholders from all sectors involved in gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Euro-Mediterranean region. This includes country representatives, ministers, local authorities and institutions, parliamentarians, international organizations, civil society platforms, academics, private sector actors, project promoters, personalities with an outstanding commitment towards gender equality, media and youth.
Moreover, the FFEM has been invited to the UfM’s Regional Dialogue on women’s autonomy which will take place on October 9th, and will take stock of what was achieved since the Cairo’s Ministerial Deceleration in 2017.
