Workshops on Women, Agriculture, Climate and Empowerment at the CSW62

The sixty-second session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will be held at United Nations Headquarters from 12 to 23 March 2018 under the theme of the challenges and opportunities of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in rural areas. The event is organized by UN Women and brings together representatives of Member States, United Nations entities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all over the world. 

In parallel, the French Coordination for the European Women’s Lobby (CLEF), in partnership with the Adéquations association, Genre en Action, and the Gender and Development Platform (GED) of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) will organize three events between 12 and 14 March 2018  on the issues of "Women, agriculture, climate, empowerment and rights ". 

The Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (FFEM) will be present on March 12 at 06:30pm during a debate on political empowerment of women and women’s access to political positions and responsibilities, on March 13 at 08:30am during the breakfast debate on "Ecological Transition and Climate : Rural Women in the Front Line", and will also intervene on March 14 at 4pm in the conference "The Impact of Climate Change on Women and Girls in Rural Areas".The Foundation will also participate the same day at 6:30pm on the theme "Social economy in the digital age as a factor for reducing rural women’s poverty in Mediterranean countries".  

All side events at CSW62 are organized by the CLEF, the Swedish Coordination of the European Women’s Lobby (SWL) Adéquations (a member of our network of networks), Genre en Action, the GED Platform and the Jean Jaurès Foundation. In addition to the FFEM, several organizations are partners in these workshops : the Francophone Network for Gender Equality, the European Foundation for Progressive Studies - FPES, The French Family Planning, the International Organization of the Francophonie, UNICEF, UN Women France and R20
