On October 23rd, the Foundation will be participating at the “Women, Peace and Security: A Gender Perspective on The Future of The MENA Region” organized by the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) as a side event of the Annual OSCE Mediterranean Conference which will take place in Palermo (Italy) under the Italian Chairmanship of the OSCE Mediterranean Contact Group.
The seminar will focus on the role that women can play in enhancing the security of their countries and of the region as a whole. In this context, the results of a study on the implementation of UNSCR 1325, which aims at promoting women’s vital contribution to peace and security, will be presented and discussed.
The initiative is organized in the framework of New-Med research project, developed by IAI, in cooperation with the OSCE, the German Marshall Fund (GMF) of the United States, the Compagnia di San Paolo, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 “Strengthening the capacities of equality actors” of the Priority Solidarity Fund “Women for the future in the Mediterranean” funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women’s Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
