On 5 March, the Foundation in partnership with the association “Femmes en Communication Oran”, who is the coordinator of the Radio “Voix des femmes” as well as the “Centre d’information et de documentation sur les droits des enfants et de la femme” (CIDDEF) are organizing a presentation of the report "Women in the Mediterranean. First monitoring report of the Euro-Mediterranean Women's Foundation of Ministerial Conferences" at the Association Santé Sidi El Houari - Palais du Bey (Vieux Quartier d'Oran). This report, published by the Foundation in May 2015, follows up different commitments of states in the Euro-Mediterranean region on gender equality and women's rights, on the basis of 12 case studies at national level: Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia and Turkey.
The presentation will be attended by Ms. Nadia Ait-Zai, who is the author of the case study of women’s participation in economic and social life in Algeria. Combating violence against women and women's participation in political life are two widely covered topics in this report that will be discussed during the presentation. The entrance of the presentation is open to all and it is free, with the financial support of the DiMed (Interministerial Delegation to Mediterranean Affairs) of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and within the framework of the project "Developing women's empowerment" labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
