The Portuguese Platform for Women’s Rights organises, with the support of the European Parliament Information Bureau, a seminar in Lisbon on women of the Euro-Mediterranean. The seminar will gather experts and activists from the Euro-Mediterranean region, members of the European Parliament and Ambassadors, in the context of the intergovernmental process of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).
The seminar’s objective is to present the results of the First monitoring report of the 3rd Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on “Reinforcing the role of women in society” celebrated in 2013, produced by the Euro-Mediterranean Women’s Foundation (EMWF). The seminar also aims to discuss the follow-up of the European Parliament, Member States and civil society organizations with regards to women’s empowerment and equality between women and men in the Euro-Mediterranean.
The Portuguese Platform for Women’s Rights is member of the EMWF and has been involved in the elaboration of the report as the author of the Portuguese case report.
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
