A regional dialogue is planned on September 9 in Marrakech (Morocco) to prepare policy monitoring pilot projects and to exchange experiences intended to promote joint work in the field of equality between men and women. These actions, called "local clusters" will be conducted in seven countries of the southern Mediterranean in the framework of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of actors working for gender equality", of the project Women for the future in the Mediterranean, funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and the project “Developing Women’s Empowerment”, labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
This project is led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean - IEMed, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research - CAWTAR, the French government, the Fédération de la Ligue Démocratique des Droits des Femmes au Maroc – FLDDF, the Forum Femmes Méditerranée - FFM and the Euro-Mediterranean academic and scientific network on gender and women - RUSEMEG, with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development - MAEDI.
The dialogue of Marrakech will gather together representatives of the project leaders and organizations charged with implementing pilot actions at local level in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. Its purpose is to share themes and methodologies used by each local cluster in order to bring together equality actors and to identify knowledge and existing projects in this field, in the targeted countries in 2015.
