In the Ajuntament de Santa Perpètua de Mogoda you can now visit our photo exhibition "Dones trencant barreres. Transformant les ciutats mediterrànies" ("Women breaking barriers. Transforming Mediterranean cities") from 4 to 18 November. The exposition is organized by the City Council of Santa Perpètua de Mogoda with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council (Deputació de Barcelona) in the framework of the initiative "Dones que Transformen".
Born from the photography contest "Powerful women: Breaking stereotypes in the Euro-Mediterranean region", launched by the Foundation in November 2017 on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the exhibition is a great opportunity to reflect on the fight for gender equality which unfolds in different contexts of the Euro-Mediterranean region.
It showcases the photographs of the 10 finalists of the competition and tells the stories of hope and personal growth of women from Algeria, Belgium, Egypt, Israel, Morocco, Palestine and Turkey. Each image is accompanied by a text, which helps us to better grasp the stories of the inspiring women in the pictures. “Dones trencant barreres” brings us closer to brave women who have broken gender stereotypes in their communities and have hence helped to bring change to their surroundings.
The next and last place where “Dones trencant barreres” can be visited in November and December is Mataró!
This platform is part of the Axis 1 "Strengthening the capacities of equality actors" of the Priority Solidarity Fund "Women for the future in the Mediterranean" funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and led by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, in the framework of the project “Developing Women's Empowerment” labelled by the Union for the Mediterranean.
